Systematic Classes
Local Atfal classes are the most important and key part of the local basic structure of Atfalul Ahmadiyya. (To learn more about the basic local structure, visit www.atfal.org.uk/basic-local-structure). Therefore, all local Atfal classes must be quality classes and run in a well-organized and structured manner offering the maximum benefit to the Atfal.
“Systematic classes’ refers only to the guidelines that the National Atfal Team has put together for local Atfal Qiadats in an effort to bring quality and structure to the local classes. Your classes will be regarded as ‘systematic’ if you are following all the guideline points.
If you are running the ‘4-stage mechanism‘, you may continue to follow that and ignore the ‘systematic classes’ guidelines as the 4-stage mechanism programme already includes most of the key elements of the systematic classes so your classes will still be regarded as ‘systematic’. To learn more about the 4-stage mechanism, visit https://www.atfal.org.uk/4-stage-mechanism
Another objective of the ‘systematic classes’ is to recognise the effort of those Qiadats who may already be running local classes in a well-organised and structured manner having all the basic elements of the systematic classes, in whatever shape or form, but may not be following the 4-stage mechanism model and therefore were previously not offered any points under the monthly rankings/leaderboards system as it only offered points for running ‘4 stage mechanism’. Whereas from now on, under the new rules, If you are not running the 4-stage mechanism but running the systematic classes instead, you will get full points under that criteria. You just need to confirm that by ticking ‘Yes’ on the local monthly report in answer to the question under the Talim Section. (To learn more about the monthly rankings/leaderboards & scoring criterion, visit: https://www.atfal.org.uk/region-qiadat-leaderboard-november-2022)
The ‘systematic classes’ guidelines offer the key elements that must be part of all the local classes. However, there are no hard and fast rules on how you choose to implement those points in your classes. You can implement them in whatever shape or form you can. You can be as creative as you can or you can simply have the most basic way of following them. As long as your local classes tick all the boxes, you are good.
Please note that it is compulsory for all local Qiadats to either implement these points or implement the 4-stage mechanism.
Compulsory Key Elements of Systematic Classes:
Find below the compulsory guideline points or the key elements of ‘systematic classes’:
- You are covering Waqfe Nau Syllabus ( Syllabus: download 7 – 11 , download 12 – 15 ) a consistent and progressive manner from start to finish as opposed to picking up random topics and not having any specific plan in place
- You are setting regular homework to the Atfal. (For instance, some topics can not be taught in the classes like memorising Surahs. This can be set as homework and a time should be set in each class to check the assigned homework)
- You are keeping a record of the topics covered – Topics Tracker. (This could simply be done on a spreadsheet. That spreadsheet can then also be shared with the parents, if appropriate, to keep them updated with the progress of the classes. This might also help Atfal who might have missed certain classes to catch up at home. Also, it will help, if a new class teacher takes over, for him to know what topics are covered and where to start thus ensuring consistency and continuity of the classes)
4.You are holding tests or exams at set regular intervals testing Atfal on the completed topics. (Again there are no hard and fast rules for how to implement that. You might have better ideas, as long as you cover this point)
5.You are reporting the progress and test results to the parents regularly. (Giving regular feedback to the parents)
6.You are covering the Weekly Friday Sermons. (Again, you can run this segment in whatever creative & interactive way you like. This could simply be by asking Atfal to read out the summary or by way of doing a quiz. Again, you might have better ideas)
7.You are keeping an attendance register and reporting the attendance of each class to the Regional Nazim Atfal, also chasing the absentees regularly to keep the attendance healthy at all times.
Some other ‘optional’ guidelines or ideas to add more to the classes to make them attractive. These are not compulsory for ‘systematic classes’ purposes.
Run religious knowledge ‘Deeni Maloomat’ & general knowledge quizzes (Some quizzes and other class resources are available at the following link: https://www.atfal.org.uk/atfal-class-resources). You can also create your own quizzes.
- Once every two months, instead of doing the usual class, Just show the relevant educational documentaries (religious) to the Atfal, for instance, just as an example: The Astonishing Story of the Prophet (PBUH) , the Review of Religion videos (there are many available on the youtube) and Hazoor’s (aba) Ijtema addresses etc. You can ask Atfal to take note of the key points at the start, to keep them focused, and ask at the end how many points they may have noted to test them. Again, you might have better ideas.
